Iasa congratulates the new certified CITA-P’s
Iasa is excited to introduce the new certified CITA-P’s. They have demonstrated strengths and high level of competency in the rigorous board certification process.
Earning a CITA-P validates your experience as an IT Architect on a global level. The certification is an industry standard, and the only truly global certification on the breadth of architectural skills and knowledge that is technology and vendor agnostic.
Gurpreet Singh has over 13 years experience in Architecting, Designing, and Building solutions for a wide range of organizations and domains. He worked closely with clients across geographies requiring understanding of a diversity of Business Models, Organizational Cultures, IT processes, and Technologies.
“Getting CITA-P certified is an exciting journey and a significant milestone. Not only the process of getting validated by a panel of best-in-the-field a very challenging and fulfilling experience, but the preparation itself forces one to introspect, consider strengths as well as weaknesses, and identify areas of improvement. The rigorous process to become a CITA-P is well worth it. I would highly recommend it to all the practicing Architects.”
Callum Shillan has almost 30 years experience in the IT industry and spent half of this time with Microsoft. Callum started as a Software Engineer using the ‘C’ programming language to develop MS-DOS 2.1 applications for Boeing. His knowledge of ‘C’ programming language took him into the arcane world of UNIX Compilers working on a proprietary language. His UNIX knowledge allowed him to move to Unisys and this is where he gained first exposure to Professional Services and the design of distributed systems by way of the Tuxedo transaction processing engine. He also worked in the Business Consulting for a number of years. Eventually Callum transitioned to the Solutions Architect role around 2005.
“When I first heard of the CITA-P certification, I was immediately drawn to the concept but I also shied away. However, over the years, I determined that I would set my face to this task and my initial investigations focused on the Foundation Certificate. Eventually, I felt enough confidence to put myself forward for the CITA-P Board, followed by intense period of self-analysis as I measured my knowledge and capabilities against the Pillars and Sub-Pillars. Without the network support of people who had been through the process, I would undoubtedly have waivered and fallen. However, I held firm and I passed through the fire. When you ask me: “How was it?” I would say “Intense.” “Intense, but fair.” CITA-P certification for me is an important step to become a well-balanced and trusted Architect who is skilled and versed in both, the art and science of designing and delivering valuable technology strategies.”
Satheesh TC has over 14 years of experience delivering solutions for enterprise customers in the Public Sector, Financial Services, Healthcare and Services sectors. He is currently employed at Microsoft UK and is responsible for architecting and delivering a mission critical banking application. His experience includes architecting and delivering large - scale web applications, enterprise messaging solutions, enterprise identity and federation solutions.
“My CITA-P journey started in the fall of 2012. I initially took the Foundation Course, which motivated me to go for the board certification. Between November 2012 and February 2013, I was pretty much obsessed with assessing my skills using the Iasa pillars and sub pillars, imbibing the Iasa taxonomy, and prepping for the board presentation. It was an arduous exercise but it gave me a baseline of my skills and a clear vision of areas for improvement.
Taking the exam was an intense experience and one that will stay with me for a long time. It is obvious, either you practice architectural skills and can articulate them or not.
Nowadays, I actively use the IASA pillars and sub pillars to shape my engagements. Going through the experience has definitely helped me to assess my skills and discover the areas for improvement, and provided with structured working approach on architectural engagements. I highly recommend taking the CITA-P certification.”
Ivor D. Addo has worked in the IT industry for well over 14 years. Over the years, he has evolved from a software engineer to a trusted advisor and solutions architect with a focus on software and data architecture as well as enterprise strategy. From designing ECommerce solutions through e-Healthcare interventions, Ivor has been exposed to several experiences as a practicing architect with a stern focus on deriving value from engagements with top-stage corporate and consulting brands like Microsoft, Avanade, Baker & Taylor, TimeWarner, Wells Fargo, Charter Communications and in some cases their respective clients.
"My journey to become a CITA-P was not as easy as I previously imagined. Being my first exposure to a board certification of one's professional experience, the CITA-P certification proved to offer a lot of self-reflection on my career as an Architect and even so, what I want to do to help advance the IT Architect profession. I enjoyed learning about gaps in my skills as they relate to the Iasa pillars. In the process, I have acquired a better understanding of some of the intangibles (for example, in Human Dynamics) that contribute to making an architect successful at being influential. I was pleasantly amazed by how much constructive feedback is collected and shared by the board. Above all, I had a great mentor who was steadfast even through multiple tribulations. I can't underscore how critical and yet challenging this experience was in opening a new chapter in my professional career. I look forward to supporting other prospective CITA-Ps and pushing the limits of what is promised of this exciting profession."
