BoE - Board of Education

The Iasa Board of Education (BoE) is the volunteer senior architect committee in charge of education programs and policy including certification, curriculum, accreditation, specializations, and career path. The board is made up of certified architects who work with dedicated Iasa staff to define the global architect body of knowledge and how it is delivered and accredited through third party institutions.

All Iasa members are invited to contribute on working committees.

Scott Whitmire - Iasa Fellow and BOE Chair & Operations, Curriculum Committee Chairs

Certified professional IT architect with more than 30 years of experience in Enterprise-Level Systems Architecture, Software Development Leadership, measurement and optimization of architectures and systems designs, corporate performance measurement, development, enhancement, and orchestration of technical products/platforms, multi-million dollar technical projects, cross-functional teams, organizational objectives, bottom line results, and delivery of breakthrough products for future growth. 

Expertise in Product Development, Architecture and Design Measurement and Optimization, Operations Optimization, Project Management, Cost Control, IT Strategy, Team Leadership, Motivation, Operational Streamlining, System Improvements, Cost Reduction, Long-term Project Management, Client Management, and Client-centric Technical Solutions. Specialties: Large, complex systems; measurement and optimization of business processes, information systems architectures, and software application designs; difficult technical problems; quickly learn new tools, languages, or business domains.


  Miriam Grace, Ph.D. - Iasa Fellow and Curriculum Committee Chair

Miriam Grace is a Senior Systems Architect with Boeing’s Enterprise Information Technology organization and is a member of the Boeing Technical Excellence Fellowship. She is the Chief Architect for the Sales, Business Development, Marketing, and Business Development Domain, which consists of Advanced Analytics and Customer Engagement related business functions across major Boeing Business Units, as well as Brand and Market Positioning, and the Airplane Production and Rate Management functions for Boeing Commercial Airplane. 

Miriam is an Iasa Fellow and member of the Iasa Board of Education where she has served as the Chair of the Curriculum Committee since its inception in 2007. Miriam has been a part of Iasa since 2005, starting with serving as co-editor of the original Iasa Newsletter, and contributing many articles and thought pieces over the years to the Iasa Book of Knowledge. Miriam designed the very first course for Iasa on Whole Systems Design in 2008. Miriam is a published author, holds a Master’s in Whole Systems Design, and a Ph.D. in Leadership from a Design Perspective. Miriam has taught at the graduate level and is deeply engaged in evangelizing for the profession of Business Architect at Boeing. Miriam also has a rich history at Boeing in the establishment of Business Architecture as foundational to any IT Architecture work. Miriam teaches on how to create and sustain a culture of innovation at Boeing and advocates for the vital role that mentoring and partnering play in the institutionalization of that culture

Working Committees

The BoE has formed a number of committees to perform its work. The committee structure allows the involvement of many more people than the BoE itself can accommodate.
